This painting dated 1967 is by  Petion Savain who was born February 15, 1906.  He began his career in 1927 and soon after, also earned a law degree.  He then studied techniques in mural painting in New York, won awards at various exhibits and eventually became a newspaper columnist back in Haiti.  He died in 1975 and has since been copied in style by numerous other Haitian artists.
